Arsenal FC announced earlier that it had completed the signing of veteren George Best for an undisclosed fee. The manager, Arsen Wenger, offered "George will fit in to the upper midfield like jambon et fromage".

Best's agent, Linda Bell-Smythe, declared "George has lots to offer a mid-table club like Arsenal and will provide some things".
